“THE BLUES “
Newsletter No. 1 – August 2021
This is our first Newsletter for Season 2021/22. Hopefully, we can build on from last season and create more success on the green. Fundraising is also a very important part of our Club. We are hoping to have some social events this season, to bring all members and their families inclusively to the Club.
The EBC Committee for season 2021/22 are as follows:
- President: Brad Parker
- Vice President and Treasurer: Russell Wight
- Secretary: Tony Whennan
- Board Member: Maureen Lewis
- Board Member: Doug Smith
Breaking News
Edwardstown Bowling Club would like to announce that TJ Saunders is returning to the Club as a Playing Coach. Deanna Amos will continue as the Ladies Coach.
Training
The first training session will be held on Thursday 2nd September from 4 pm. Training will then be on Tuesday and Thursdays from 4 pm. The more members we get out for training, the more success we will have on the green. So please make the effort to attend at least one of the training days.
Good luck to all players this season. Hoping you achieve all the success you deserve.
Open Day for Coming Season
An open day is being planned for Sunday 10th October at 11 am. Our Patron, Jayne Stinson will be invited to roll the first bowl. So come along with family and friends to officially open the 2021/22 Pennant Season.
Pennants
The season starts on Wednesday 13th October, Saturday 16th October and Ladies on Thursday 21st October. Listings are posted on the EBC Board. Also Unavailability and Going Direct forms are on the Board for all members to check and use.
Trail Games
A list of Trial Games has been placed on the Board for members to put their name forward. Please make the effort to attend these games so you can be match ready for when the season starts proper.
Social Events
We hope you all embrace the Club by attending social events. Due to COVID and snap lockdowns we as a Club can’t organise a schedule of events too far ahead. We will keep members posted either by email or put it up on the Notice Board.
Friday night draws have been happening during the off season. We still need more members to come along to make this a success. It’s a great atmosphere. The Jackpot is over $1,000. There is the meat raffle and also the member’s draw (you need to be there to claim it). This is a great opportunity for you to invite family and friends along and make this a regular event on your calendar.
Our Club will still be serving sandwiches for afternoon teas on home pennant games. We will be organising a roster of volunteers to achieve this. If you would like to be on the roster please put your name forward to a Board Member.
Usage of Club Rooms
We encourage all members to use the Club as often as possible, just like a second home. Whether it be a Friday night for a few drinks, organising a Birthday party, enjoying the use of our fabulous greens or just chilling out, we would love to see more of you enjoying the Club. If you or a family member wishes to use our facilities, feel free to contact Brad Parker to make a booking.
If any member wishes to contribute towards the Newsletter or add anything please speak to Rita or members of the Board.
This is your Newsletter to enjoy. GO THE BLUES!
